Position Summary
Under general supervision, provides leadership, advice and direction to full/part-time professionals, graduate students, campus partners, and students to strategically plan events, implement new initiatives with campus partners, execute large-scale events at NIU and achieve Student Involvement mission and goals. Deliver large-scale programs and events; offering students a wide range of out-of-class experiential learning experiences that build leadership, communication, and organizational skills in preparation for high levels of academic endeavor. Seek and establish new partnerships on and off campus to enhance the campus life experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Advising students through transformative learning experiences.

3. Experience and skills related to social and cultural programming, student leadership development, and financial management.
4. Strong leadership and communication skills to maintain effective working relationships with departments, employees, and managers of the internal organization and external vendors is required.
5. Strong work ethic and integrity for accountability and high work quality
6. Strong creativity, innovation, and flexibility to respond to a changing work environment
7. Ability to critical thinking, problem solving, creativity, and interpret policy/procedures, work effectively with team members and campus partners

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Serves as expert on-campus event creation, production, and management;
- Advises staff and student leaders with the planning and execution of campus wide programs, Campus Activities Board ( CAB );
- Directs and leads staff and/or student leaders with the planning and execution of campus wide programs;
- Collaborates with campus partners, vendors, and community partners;
- Manages programming budgets for the Campus Activities Board and separate divisional priorities;
- Fiscally responsible with expenses and revenue related to Student Activities;
- Responsible for purchasing event supplies, marketing materials and promotional items;
- Tracks and documents all financial transactions;
- Creates and assists with new vendor forms, miscellaneous vouchers, and internal/external contracts;
- Understands and articulates various federal, state, and local laws and mandates related to Student Involvement;
- Establishes and maintains relationships with industry influencers and key strategic partners;
- Provides and manages overall calendar of programming for Student Involvement;
- Responsible for Student Activities annual reports, monthly reports, and staff weekly updates. Lead and plan assessments for programming;
- Represents Student Involvement on university wide committees.
- Supports day-to-day office operations;
- Interviews, hires, orients, leads, mentors and evaluates staff to meet departmental and organizational needs.
- Hires, trains, develops, and manages full/part-time staff, graduate staff, and student staff to ensure that qualified individuals join the team and meet Student Involvement mission and goals.
- Performs other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
