The Department of Health Informatics and Data Sciences is one of four departments hosted in the Parkinson School of Health Sciences and Public Health. It is a highly multidisciplinary department with a strong focus on using approaches from public health informatics and data science to improve the totality of human health and reduce health disparities.
Launched in 2017, the Center for Health Outcomes and Informatics Research ( CHOIR ) anchors a collaborative mission of people-centered education and people-centered care shared by Loyola University Chicago and Loyola University Health System through education, research and service to others. In the Jesuit tradition, the phrase cura personalis speaks to a distinctive person-centered approach to education. In the context of Trinity Health, a people-centered health system speaks to that same commitment through clinical research and clinical care at the service of the community and population health.
As a catalyst for social change, CHOIR seeks to achieve truly people-centered care by leveraging unprecedented institutional commitment to effectively use data for the benefit of all patients. To this end, CHOIR’s objective is to create a data-driven culture at the service of improved outcomes and health equity.Qualifications
We are especially interested in applicants with expertise in public health informatics, systems design, public health decision-making, global health, network science, mobile health and applications to areas that are relevant to the Department and to CHOIR .
