Assistant Professor in Interior Design - Architecture Department

The Department of Architecture invites applications for an Assistant Professor position in the Interior Design program to begin Fall 2023. Candidates are expected to have a Ph.D./Master’s degree in Interior Design, professional experience, and teaching experience at the university level.  Candidates must have specialization in Interior Design communication media, lighting design media, furniture design, and design for wellbeing. The successful candidate will be expected to be active in research in his/her fields of interests, incorporate high-impact educational practices in his/her teaching of Interior Design courses, engage students in extra-curricular activities, advise students, and provide service to the department, university, and community.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Teaching Interior Design courses
  • Participation in departmental, school, and university committees and activities
  • Advising and mentoring students 
  • Participation in outreach activities, such as continuing education workshops, conferences and seminars
  • Research and/or creative work consistent with expectations for contract renewal  

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph. D./Master’s degree in Interior Design from an accredited institution of higher education 
  • University teaching experience
  • Professional experience
  • Effective communication skills in English
  • Potential for excellence in teaching, including the use of high-impact educational practices, and research/creative work
  • Interest and experience in working effectively with a diverse student population 
  • Ability and willingness to work collaboratively with faculty from a variety of disciplines
