School Information: Comprised of seven departments (Art & Art History, Communications, English, History, Modern Languages & Literatures, Music & Theatre, and Philosophy & Religious Studies), the School of Arts & Humanities at California State University, Bakersfield, provides thriving academic degree programs to approximately 1,000 students as well as core areas of General Education for the approximately 11,000 students at the university. In addition to classroom instruction, the departments in the School host art exhibits, dramatic productions, and concerts as well as "The Runner" (the Student Newspaper) and student broadcasting programs. Departments often invite distinguished visiting artists and speakers to present to university-wide audiences. Position Description: Applications are invited for a tenure-track position in Visual Communication at the assistant professor level beginning in August 2023.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Earned a M.F.A or Ph.D. in a Communications-related field with a focus on visual communications or digital media arts.
• Identified program of research that aligns with practice and/or studies in visual communications.
• Documented teaching and/or professional experience in visual communications.
• Demonstrated superior interpersonal, verbal, and written skills, in which the candidate can work collaboratively in an evolving industry and work environment.
• Demonstrated commitment to teaching undergraduates from diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds, including first-generation students.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Documented teaching in at least two of the following fields: graphic design, sound design for visual media, 3D animation, interactivity, and/or immersive
• Possesses two or more years of teaching experience beyond graduate school.
• Exhibited professional works in national conferences, festivals, and/or galleries.
• Research aligns with both practice and theory in visual communications.
