Job Description

Founded in 1967, Blue Ridge Community College has served the residents of the central Shenandoah Valley of Virginia for over 50 years. Its comprehensive program of instruction includes associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates in occupational/technical and college/university transfer programs. The College also provides non-credit workforce training and special interest classes for individuals, business, and industry.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the coordination of the Physics department and course offerings, teaching courses such as Elements of Physics, College Physics sequence, and Calculus based Physics sequence. May include a combination of day and evening classes at locations served by the College, and traditional in-person, virtual synchronous and asynchronous modalities. In addition to teaching responsibilities, this position will also provide oversight of laboratory equipment, inventory, adjunct instructors, and department budget. Additional responsibilities include advising, service to students, service to the college including committee work/governance, and/or community organizations/activities; participation in scholarly and professional activities; mentoring adjunct faculty; development and support of courses and programs.

KSA's/Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Physics or related field with 18 graduate hours specifically in Physics.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Community college teaching experience; experience delivering online instruction
