Responsibilities:

The Senior Writer & Content Strategist is a versatile and compelling storyteller who writes custom content and helps develop smart content marketing strategies for Northeastern University's D'Amore-McKim School of Business Graduate Programs. The Senior Writer & Content Strategist is a quick study who can turn around advertising copy, email and web content, video scripts, talking points, brochure copy, audio scripts, and other key pieces that help establish thought leadership and build the D'Amore-McKim School of Business brand. To be successful, this person must be curious, quick thinking, and grounded in the principles of journalism: rock-solid research, skillful interviewing, and eloquent storytelling.

Topics that the Senior Writer & Content Strategist will cover include the full range of issues related to our digital-first, data-driven business world. Audiences include future graduate learners, current graduate students, graduate program alumni, and employers, among others. The ability to learn the character and ethos of Northeastern University will be important, as well as knowing how to share the strategic vision of the D'Amore-McKim School of Business and differentiate its programs and services in a crowded market space. A comfort with crafting content based on data analysis will be critical.

The Senior Writer & Content Strategist is a key member of the graduate programs marketing team and will work collaboratively with colleagues such as those in admissions, career services, and the university's brand team. The person in this role will also work very closely with the school's Communications team, as using one voice is of the utmost importance. Prior experience in higher education is not required, but a general understanding of higher education issues and relevant trends is desired. The ability to meet project deadlines without compromising quality is critical. A positive, problem-solving attitude is essential.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in English, journalism, or related coursework
  • 5-7 years of experience writing in environments that required versatility, brand alignment, and careful attention to detail
  • Excellent writer with the ability for compelling storytelling
  • Well-polished interpersonal skills with a documented track record for successful interviewing
  • Positive, problem-solving attitude
  • Curiosity and innovative thinking
  • Excellent work ethic and must be efficient in managing his/her/their time in meeting deadlines and coordinating work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Proficient in MS Office, SharePoint, Teams, Adobe, and related file-sharing/editing software
  • Must be able to conduct thorough research and become a subject matter expert
