The Department of Communication and Media at the University of Southern Indiana, a public university in Evansville, Indiana, seeks applications for a 9-month, tenure track position at the assistant professor level in Digital Media. This position will be assigned to the department’s radio-television program. The appointment will begin Fall 2023.

Position Description:

The Assistant Professor will be expected to teach 12 credit hours per semester, which includes undergraduate and/or graduate departmental course offerings in digital media, video production, broadcast writing, documentary video, social media content and production, and/or other courses in the applicant’s area of expertise, in addition to advising students and engaging in scholarly activity and professional, community, and university service activities. The assistant professor may also have opportunities to work closely with students in the Streaming Eagles Studio.


Required Qualifications:
Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in Mass Communication or a closely related field. ABD considered at the rank of Instructor if doctoral degree is not conferred by hire date.

Our Radio and TV Program is an award-winning program, both in the state of Indiana and nationally. In April 2022, in its first annual rankings of student achievement by students from over 300 schools worldwide, the Broadcast Education Association ranked USI 7th for audio production and 39th for our combined audio and video production. The BEA also recognized the quality of USI’s live sports broadcasts for the Screaming Eagles, by ranking our sportscasting in the top 30.
