Job Summary

Reporting to the Dean of the Law School, the Associate Dean will manage, and continue to strategically expand, the Law School’s online Master of Legal Studies, LL.M, and post-bac certificate programs and will strive to advance the Law School’s stake in the online learning space, while ensuring the delivery of a superior and accessible learning experience for the Law School’s online student population.

Essential Functions
  • Direct strategy for and oversee the Law School’s online graduate curriculum and develop and launch new online graduate degree programs that align with the Law School’s strengths and mission
  • Identify exceptional and diverse subject matter experts to teach in the Law School’s online legal programs and supervise 40+ current online faculty members
  • Collaborate with the Dean in budget and revenue planning relating to graduate programs and other online endeavors
  • Collaborate with marketing and enrollment management teams to establish enrollment targets and retention metrics
  • Continue building relationships with external academic units to create and deliver innovative and appealing interdisciplinary online degree programs
  • Supervise internal instructional design team to ensure delivery of innovative and high-quality online learning experiences that include opportunities for meaningful student engagement and assessment
  • Supervise internal administrators and student advising team who will be largely responsible for day-to-day functions of the online programs, including preparing faculty contracts, student onboarding, course selection/career advising, and registrar duties
  • Serve as Dean of Students for the online population, addressing needs and challenges of non-traditional learners throughout the student life cycle, including resolving academic standing and discipline issues
  • Serve as the Law School’s liaison to the University’s graduate studies unit and online education committees and task forces
  • Develop and ensure implementation of academic program policies that align with the Law School’s mission and values
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with accreditors, including ABA and state bar associations, for online programming
  • Work with the University’s Advancement team to create opportunities for program alumni to remain engaged with the Law School and its current online students
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience in related field
  • Experience working in higher education (whether at a university or a partner) or in legal practice
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to carefully set priorities, follow through, and meet deadlines efficiently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage a team and maintain effective working relationships
  • Knowledge of law and/or legal compliance
  • Familiarity with online education
