Job Summary

The Justice-oriented Youth (JoY) Education Lab in Drexel University’s School of Education welcomes applications for a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow to serve as Project Coordinator/Data Manager on a newly awarded National Science Foundation (NSF) project titled Women in Natural Sciences: A Longitudinal Comparative Case Study of Black Women in STEMM (1995-2015) (Award #2215207). The project examines the educational, career, and life experiences of alumnae of the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University’s forty-year old Women in Natural Sciences (WINS) program, as well as participants who were likely, yet did not enroll in the program. The ideal candidate will have advanced mixed methods research, administrative, and organizational skills including a strong foundation in intersectionality and Black feminist theories. In addition, the ideal candidate will have expertise in education/STEMM education within formal and/or informal learning environments- particularly as it pertains to equity, access, and the achievement of Black women and girls. The Post-Doctoral Research Fellow will have the opportunity to work closely with a dynamic transdisciplinary team of researchers and practitioners on the project, as well as collaborate with graduate, undergraduate, youth, and community researchers in the JoY Lab. Furthermore, the Post-Doctoral Research Fellow will participate in individualized mentorship, personal & professional development, and career advancement activities. This position may be renewable for up to four years.

Essential Functions
  • Work closely with PIs, graduate students, and program team to advance project goals.
  • Lead key aspects of project coordination including management of qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods data collection and analysis.
  • Coordinate project logistics pertaining to timely communication across various stakeholders, executing the research plan and project timeline, scheduling team meetings, recruitment of participants, human research subjects’ protection, and timely reporting.
  • Support dissemination plan including presentation and publication of research findings.
  • Participate in mentorship activities related to ongoing personal and professional development.
  • Support the mission and research agenda of the JoY Lab as an engaged member of the research team and as a member of the JoY Lab leadership team.
Required Qualifications
  • A PhD or Doctorate in Education, STEMM Education or a related field/discipline is required
  • 5 or more years of teaching or research experience is also required.
  • Doctoral Candidates who are ABD with an expected graduation by June 2023 will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
  • The ideal candidate will have advanced mixed methods research, administrative, and organizational skills including a strong foundation in intersectionality and Black feminist theories.
  • In addition, the ideal candidate will have expertise in education/STEMM education within formal and/or informal learning environments- particularly as it pertains to equity, access, and the achievement of Black women and girls.
