Position Summary

The office of Project Management is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of Major and Minor Capital Outlay projects, Infrastructure Improvement projects, Capital Renewal and Deferred Maintenance projects, and Tenant Improvement projects for the university at large. Project Management also oversees various consulting activities related to project development and implementation and interfaces with multiple state agencies and third-party entities responsible for code compliance oversight.

The Fiscal Contracts Analyst & Project Coordinator position is responsible for assisting in the monitoring of budgets and management of the financial logistics of multiple, simultaneously occurring projects, including multimillion-dollar major capital outlay construction projects. The projects include highly complex, customized contracts for CSU Public Works Projects and Specialty Service and Maintenance Contracts implemented by Project Management.

This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.

The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.

Education and Experience

Entry to this classification requires general knowledge and skills in the applicable administrative and/or program field with a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.

Specialized Skills
  • Experience in multi-fund management and accounting.
  • Familiarity with general accounting practices, financial transactions, and record keeping.
  • Competency in MS Excel data entry, including linked workbooks and complex balance sheets.
  • Experience in contract document preparation.
  • Competency in MS Word or equivalent word processing.
  • General knowledge of construction bidding and contracting process.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience creating and processing Purchase Requisitions in Oracle Financials.
  • Experience with online reports generation in Oracle Financials.
  • Experience administering and reconciling multiple fund accounts tied to project expenditures.
  • Experience with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) used in preparation of financial statements.
  • Education and experience in project management.

Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $4,644 per month.

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,518 - $6,791 per month.
