Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s School of Education, Health, and Human Behavior is seeking qualified applicants for an Assistant Professor- Cognitive Psychology position. Preferred applicants will demonstrate a strong commitment in the area of Cognitive Psychology, broadly defined. The specific area of research is open, but we desire candidates who are committed to engaging undergraduates in research and who can contribute to the department’s offerings in statistics, research methods, and courses related to Cognitive Psychology.

Applicants for this position must possess an earned doctorate in Cognitive Psychology or related field. ABD candidates will be considered, but the doctorate is required by the contract start date in August 2023. Evidence of, or potential for, successful undergraduate and graduate teaching, service at all levels of the university, and high-quality research is also required.
Preference will be given to candidates who can teach undergraduate Research Design, Statistics, and Cognitive Psychology. Additional courses that the candidate may teach include Capstone Seminar in Psychology, Learning and Memory, Sensation and Perception, and other classes as pertain to the candidate’s area of research. Interest in and ability to teach online classes as part of our online degree completion program would be considered. Candidates should also be able to establish a successful program of research in an area related to Cognitive Psychology.

Terms of Appointment
Full-time, continuing 9-month tenure-track position. Summer appointment is contingent upon availability of funds and enrollment. Beginning date of appointment is August 2023.
