The University of Arkansas at Little Rock seeks applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Art-Illustration (R002812). The Assistant Professor of Art-Illustration is responsible for teaching illustration courses, advising, and mentoring students. The successful candidate will have an active scholarship agenda, participate in recruitment, retention, special programs, curriculum assessment, and development, while also contributing to department, college, and university committees. The Department of Art and Design is housed in the newly constructed 65,500 sq. ft. Windgate Center of Art + Design with spacious teaching studios, three galleries, student studio spaces and new state-of-the-art equipment. The department serves more than 170 majors, offering a BA in Art Education, Art History, and Studio Art, and a BFA in ceramics, drawing, graphic design, furniture design, illustration, jewelry & metalsmithing, painting, photography and printmaking.

Sitting on the banks of the Arkansas River, Little Rock, with a population of more than 200,000 residents, is known for its arts and cultural scene, vast array of entertainment activities, restaurants and breweries, and easy access to a variety of outdoor activities.

Required Qualifications: MFA in Illustration or related field; Evidence of scholarship related to the position requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:  University-level teaching experience beyond graduate assistantships; Industry experience; Experience with various graphic design and digital art processes; A strong record of creative work and evidence of ongoing professional achievement; Experience and commitment to working with diverse populations of learners.
