Summary:

Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry is seeking applicants for a dedicated Full Stack Application Developer in the Office of Information Technology. The Full Stack Application Developer will work with internal stakeholders and the Director of Application Development to develop new software applications and update/modify existing applications. The Full Stack Application Developer will process users' needs to customize web applications, scripts, and database queries, design prototype applications, and implement and test course code. This position will troubleshoot existing applications and respond to customer needs regarding modifications, data feeds, and requirements gathering. The Full Stack Application Developer will work in a multi-team environment that collaborates with other IT teammates, VCU Technology Serviced, vendors, clinical technology specialists, faculty, staff, and students.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include managing multiple tasks independently daily, including:
  • Developing software solutions to meet customer needs by creating and implementing the source code of new applications
  • Testing source code and debugging code
  • Evaluating existing applications and performing updates and modifications
  • Working with APIs
  • Modifying, maintaining, and creating data feeds from various sources, including the School of Dentistry and the University, using Oracle, SQL Server, and Tableau
  • Overseeing the dental and dental hygiene student rotation system and student dashboard, and assist with other existing in-house and third-party web applications as needed
  • Working with teammates and the University to create a stable and secure AWS tenant, code delivery pipeline, source control, and serverless application environment
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science required
  • Working knowledge of Python, ASP.Net/C#, JavaScript, AWS, Tableau, CSS, HTML
  • Experience with database modeling, design, development, and scripting (Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server)
  • Ability to document business processes, system requirements, and operational workflows
  • Advanced knowledge of ERDs, data flow diagrams, and prototyping tools
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Relevant experience working in a university academic or healthcare environment
  • Relevant experience working in a collaborative application development environment
  • Relevant experience working with Source control tools, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-based server less development tools
