Job Details
The Department of Chemistry at Carnegie Mellon University has an open position as a Postdoctoral Researcher in Chemical Ionization Mass Spectrometry to measure gas-phase peroxy radicals as part of the CLOUD Collaboration at CERN. The position involves laboratory design and calibration of an inlet to modify gas-phase samples to convert radical species into stable molecules that can be measured by suitable chemical ionization reactants as well as deployment to CERN in Geneva, Switzerland for annual measurement campaigns, typically lasting 2-3 months each Fall. The postdoctoral research will be expected to travel to CERN for these campaigns during each year of employment. The position also involves active collaboration with doctoral students and senior researchers. It is expected that the successful candidate will combine initiative to work alone with teamwork and collaborative skills, contribute to the design, development, and execution of successful measurements, analysis and interpretation of data, and writing of manuscripts to publish research findings in archival journals.
Qualifications
PhD in Chemistry or related field required.
