Music and Theatre Arts: Lecturer in Music History

POSITION: Music History Instructor. 100% FTE Instructional Academic Staff Position in the Department of Music and Theatre Arts in the Lecturer title series beginning August 21, 2023.  This is a one-year sabbatical replacement appointment with salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.

QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s Degree in Musicology required by August 21, 2023. ABD of Ph.D. in Musicology preferred.  The following will be considered assets: evidence of successful teaching at the collegiate level; demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusiveness.

DUTIES: Duties and responsibilities involve teaching courses in the music history series, including Music History (Antiquity to 1750), Music History (1750-1950), Senior Seminar, and Global Traditions in Music. 

THE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Music and Theatre Arts serves over 400 majors and minors supported by approximately 30 full-time and 11 part-time faculty and 7 staff.  The Department is highly regarded in the state and region and enriches the Eau Claire community while providing outstanding academic opportunities.  Faculty are active solo and collaborative performers and are dedicated to innovative teaching.  Academic programs include the BM degree in performance and composition; the BME degree in instrumental and choral music education; the BA and BS degrees in music and musical theatre.  All degree programs are fully accredited by NASM.  Applicants are encouraged to peruse the Department’s website at www.uwec.edu/Mus-The and the Pablo Center’s website http://www.pablocenter.org/
