Job Summary

The Associate Director will assist the Director in the administration of federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs and will be responsible for managing the operational staff and functions of the office. The position will oversee all financial aid awarding processes and help to ensure compliance with federal and state programs. The Associate Director will be responsible for developing and applying policies and procedures as well as coordinating training and development for the team. The position will also assist in maintaining financial aid systems and reporting as it relates to financial aid processes. The Associate Director is pivotal to the daily operations in the office of Student Financial Services.

Essential Functions
  • Supervise SFS operational staff and provide development and support as needed.
  • Oversee processes related to awarding/adjusting of financial aid packages.
  • Assist in administering federal and state programs and coordinate regular reconciliation.
  • Work with Director on creating, revising, and applying policies and procedures.
  • Work with Assistant Director to maintain reporting and provide analysis.
  • Develop, maintain, and present training materials to staff and assist with hiring as needed.
  • Participate in on-campus functions/activities as needed and coordinate assistance.
  • Assist with counseling as needed and handle escalations and other high-level service needs.
  • Manage the administration of special programs and tuition benefits.
  • Assist Director with audits, surveys, and other data collection and evaluation as needed.
  • Collaborate closely with staff to identify and prioritize areas of improvement.
  • Attend trainings and conferences in key areas and maintain an understanding of trends.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in financial aid administration (private college preferred)
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • Effective communication and technical skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree
  • Ellucian Colleague experience strongly preferred.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

Employee is subject to indoor work, protected from weather conditions. Work is sedentary in nature and involves exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently/constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move object.
