Job Summary:
The Advising Counselor for Undergraduate Programs is responsible for performing a variety of diversified administrative services that support the initiatives of the Business Advising Center in improving student retention. In addition, this position will particularly focus on providing an enhanced level of service to students enrolled in SCB undergraduate level programs. This position reports to the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs and Services.
Required Qualifications:
1. Undergraduate degree, preferably in a business discipline, or equivalent related work experience.
2. Prior experience in an academic environment, preferably in student advisement, registration, admissions, or recruitment.
3. Strong written communication and interpersonal skills.
4. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
5. Working knowledge of the Internet, Email and Microsoft Word, Excel and Access.
6. Ability to effectively mentor young adults.
7. Must be available to work non-standard hours as required, including some Friday evenings and Saturdays.
8. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card.
