  • The Maintenance Repairperson will perform general maintenance and repairs including, but not limited to carpentry, drywall, painting, paving, snow and ice removal, gardening, mechanical maintenance, tiling, hanging materials, landscaping tasks, and other construction tasks.

    POSITION SUMMARY

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Performs general repairs and maintenance services throughout the College buildings and grounds.

  • Prepares, measures, cuts, installs, prepares, and repairs materials such as drywall, trim, finishes, ceiling tiles, wall/floor tiles, graphics, decorations, minor fixtures (toilet paper dispensers, signage, hooks, shelves), etc.

  • Assists electrical, plumbing, and HVAC staff as a trade helper, as needed

  • Performs routine maintenance on building systems, machinery, and grounds

  • Performs landscaping and grounds work including mowing, planting, weeding, pavement repair,

  • Assists with snow and ice clearing operations

  • Cleans and assists with upkeep of the facilities including pressure washing,

  • Replaces electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors

  • Repairs or replaces sinks, toilets, urinals, and other plumbing fixtures and finishes

  • Paints structures, surfaces, and equipment

  • Repairs or replaces concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks

  • Hangs doors and installs door locks and replaces windows

  • Order and inventory supplies and materials needed for repairs and maintenance

  • Plans repair work using building blueprints, drawings and/or equipment manuals

  • Performs other related duties as assigned by Supervisors and Managers

  • Must respond to emergencies, as required, which may include working off-hours or holidays

SALARY AND BENEFITS
  • Annual salary is $45,000-$60,000.
  • NJ Educators Health Plan with free Vision and Dental. NJ State Pension plan.
  • 13 vacation days, 15 sick days, 4 personal days, 2 floating holidays, all designated holidays and 5 non-designated holidays a year. 3 Partial Sick Days.
  • Tuition reimbursement opportunities for staff and their family 6 months after hire.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required, Trade school certificate preferred

Experience:
  • 1 year of general maintenance experience preferred. On-the-job training offered.

  • Knowledge of power and hand tools, landscaping equipment and associated safety procedures

  • Experience working in a diverse team setting

  • Experience maintaining high-level of professionalism and customer service

  • Related experience preferred. On-the-job training offered.

Other:
  • Must have valid Driver's License

  • Prolonged periods walking, standing, bending, stretching, pushing, pulling, climbing ladders, or kneeling on uneven surfaces

  • Must be physically able to operate power equipment and power tools

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time

  • Able to work in unconditioned, noisy, dimly light, confined, and odorous spaces, including the ability to work in variable and sometimes extreme weather conditions such as rain, snow, storms, heat, cold, and other weather indigenous to the area

  • Ability to follow instructions from supervisors or managers

  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools

  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills

  • Must wear protective equipment; (i.e. eyeglasses, gloves, hard hat, coveralls)

  • Must be able to climb a ladder and work at heights for extended periods of time
