Job Description:
SUNY Schenectady County Community College is seeking a full-time Assistant Registrar. Reporting to the Registrar, the Assistant Registrar is an essential part of a collaborative office environment in the Registrar's Office, supporting academic operations that require the use of the student information system (Banner). This position provides functional expertise in the use of the student information system, familiarity with program requirements, and knowledge of policies and procedures related to academic policies and procedures within the Registrar's Office. The Assistant Registrar assists with the daily operation of the Registrar's Office and will work with the Degree Works degree audit program. This position is also responsible for processing graduation applications for clearance, evaluating transcripts for external credit, maintenance of Degree Works, maintenance of academic documentation, and provision of registration and advisement services and statistical reports as needed. This is a full-time, twelve-month position that reports to the Registrar and is a member of the Union of Faculty and Professionals. The position also includes occasional evening assignments.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Evaluate external transfer credit (in consultation with the Deans) for all matriculated students.
- Maintain and update test transfer rules as needed for changes to exam credit.
- Maintain and update transfer articulation tables and rules for institutions, courses, and students through the use of Banner.
- Scribe/programming of Degree Works audits including overseeing and completing all Degree Works curriculum changes.
- Implement and maintain Student Planner. Work closely with Deans to implement and maintain scribe.
- Assist with waiver and exception processing.
- Provide campus training as new software functionality is introduced in Degree Works.
- Develop and post the final exam schedule.
- Complete graduation audits utilizing Degree Works and assist with other preparation for commencement.
- Create, maintain, and improve business processes using new and existing technology to streamline the evaluation process and provide a higher level of service to both students and faculty.
- Assist in the coordination of the College's academic advisement program and maintenance and distribution of advisement materials as well as assist in assigning advisors.
- Prepare summary reports, including enrollment comparisons, room assignments, faculty usage, etc.
- Assist the Registrar with day-to-day operation of the office and assume administrative responsibilities in the absence of the Registrar
- Other duties as assigned by the Registrar
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- Knowledge and experience with Degree Works
- Minimum of two years of relevant experience in higher education or other institutional setting
- Familiarity with Banner or other SIS and PC applications
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Must enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, display an aptitude for technology, think analytically and be easily adaptable to change
- Commitment to the philosophy of the comprehensive community college
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in a related field.
- Prior experience with Degree Works

Salary: $49,000, non-negotiable
