The position is a research track academic rank for individuals engaged in research and typically assigned minimal or no teaching responsibilities. The prospective research faculty is expected to carry out basic and applied research in plant conservation, medicinal plant chemistry, eco-physiology, and the economics of valuable plant species. Candidates with expertise and experience in seed technology and plant metabolomics are encouraged to apply. A demonstrated expertise in innovative research and funding support is mandatory. The successful candidate is expected to collaborate actively with other research teams within and outside Qatar to conduct high-level research and regularly publish research findings in high-impact international scientific journals. 

Minimum Qualifications

· Ph.D. from a reputable University in Plants Conservation/Biological Sciences/Ecology/Ethno-Botany/Natural Products Chemistry with at least 5 years of postdoctoral experience

· Language abilities: English is required

· The candidate should demonstrate strong research ability and knowledge in the field with strong technical and communication skills.

· A strong record of research grants management, publications, presentations, and student teaching/supervision

Preferred Expertise

· Demonstrate general expertise in the field of natural products isolation and characterization

· Practical skills and experience with chromatographic analytical platforms for analysis of plant metabolites (e.g., GC-MS and LC-MS)

· Experience with target/non-target metabolomics; and strong NMR and mass spectrometry skills in compound characterization

· Familiarity with metabolomics databases and networking platforms

· Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team

· Being able to multi-task with multiple projects and keep pace in a dynamic research environment

· Research experience in an arid climate is a plus
