Job Description:
The Department of Neuroscience at the University of Florida is seeking a non tenure track position at the rank of Research Assistant Professor to work as a senior level scientist to manage, train, and assist scientists in the use of several high-end microscopes.
The individual must have a PhD degree and at least 20 years of experience working in a biological laboratory setting. Applicant must have experience with all aspects, general and advanced, of numerous microscopy modalities including multi-photon, light-sheet, and confocal. They must have extensive knowledge in neuroanatomy and sample preparation, including rodent cranial windows, acute slices, and fixed samples. The individual is expected to have a track record of peer-reviewed publications and independent funding. Extensive knowledge of data analysis is essential.
This position will require leadership and independence. The individual is expected to coordinate experiments and collaborations with multiple researchers in numerous labs, in the institution, and extramurally. These activities include directing and training new laboratory members (technicians, students, postdocs), supervising and assessing technical staff performance, supporting lab data and record keeping (manage the purchase/budget needs, maintain research data records and inventories, interface with vendors and service personnel), and collaborators within and outside the university. This position will support the labs in preparing manuscripts, progress reports, and grants, which opens an opportunity to gain authorship or co-authorship in manuscripts.
This individual is expected to develop and implement new experimental procedures and validate their utility; design and execute laboratory protocols; compile and analyze experimental results; prepare data summaries; document experiments by standard laboratory record keeping.
Expected Salary:
$76,500.00
