Job Description:

The successful candidate will work closely with Dr. Nguyen, the postdoctoral associate, and other biological scientist in the lab to conduct key experiments to identify repeat expansion mutations that are associated with neurodegenerative disorders with unknown etiology in understanding disease causes and/or triggers and molecular basis of disease.

Actively participate and support research projects focused on understanding the genetics and the disease pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease and/or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

This research involves, but is not limited to, molecular biological analysis of DNA, RNA & protein, growth, manipulation and analyses of cell culture, iPSC and patient-derived models and working with mice models of disease.

Provide assistance in the analysis and interpretation of experimental data, preparation of scientific manuscripts, grant application and progress reports.

Maintaining accurate, reliable and up-to-date laboratory records, reagents and protocols and work with the scientist in the Nguyen group to maintain the laboratory, reagents, and inventory.

Expected Salary:

$11.00 - $14.36, Starting range is hourly and is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

High School Diploma

Preferred Qualifications:

Technical expertise in molecular biology, cell culture, handling and dissection of mice and immunohistology.

High level of accountability and responsibility and organizational and interpersonal skills.

Candidate is expected to be an independent thinker and proactive problem solver with excellent follow through.
