Summary
Are you an experienced database manager looking for a position where your talents impact systems used every day by students, faculty and staff at a small university educating and advancing communities of discover to foster a healthier society?

University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis (UHSP) is looking for a director, enterprise and data systems in its IT department to manage a team of developers and analysts and key databases and systems. Key systems include UHSP enterprise resources planning software (ERP) (Jenzabar J1) as well as the CRM Slate, financial aid software PowerFaids, event management software, fundraising system Raiser Edge and systems and databases that integrate with these. This is both a hands-on technical role, as well as a leadership and supervisory role that requires great people and project management skills to support the University's business and education programs. The university operates a primary hybrid work environment in IT with some employees fully remote in states we operate in such as Missouri and Illinois.

In this role, you will get to:
  • Manage a small administrative systems team of programmers, database staff and analysts. Responsible for managing workload, developing, hiring and performance management of this group.
  • Ensure policies and procedures for systems and processes managed by the group coordinating with other IT teams and end users to ensure efficiency and process improvement occur.
  • Manage, maintain, upgrade, evaluate, and develop University SQL Server environment as well as software, systems, updates, and integration across key administrative software including Jenzabar J1 ERP, PowerFaids financial aid software, customer relationship management software Slate, website structure, and university developed webforms, software and tools.
  • Carryout a share of administrative database tasks and reporting
  • Assist with the training of faculty/staff on proper use of administrative systems applications.
  • Be responsible for project management related to evaluation, purchase, upgrade, decommissioning administrative systems with an eye towards collaboration across units within IT, operations and key campus partners and users.


  • Qualifications
    To succeed in this role, you will need:
  • Four-year degree in Information Systems, Business, or other related subject and/or five years related experience and equivalent formal technical education required.
  • Advanced technical experience in administering and developing applications with Microsoft SQL server DBMS.
  • Ability to administer and develop databases in SQL Server.
  • Preferred experience with applications such as Jenzabar J1, Slate, PowerFaids, EMS, Blackbaud - Raisers Edge, Symplicity.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal oversight to solve problems and schedule tasks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience creating technical documentation.
  • Must have strong leadership and customer service skills.
  • Strong people and project management skills.
  • Desire to learn and keep pace with changing technologies.
