Manager of Community Partnership
About the Opportunity
Join the iSUPER team, a newly established Impact Engine at Northeastern University, to enhance how we understand and respond to air pollution in cities, with an emphasis on achieving equity through collaborations with community partners in Greater Boston. The successful candidate will be the primary liaison between an interdisciplinary team of researchers at the forefront of the science of urban air pollution action and the partnerships that will translate these insights into impacts.
iSUPER (Intelligent Solutions to Urban Pollution for Equity and Resilience) will pair low-cost sensing technologies with novel pollution prediction models to identify hyperlocal pollution hot spots in real time. These innovations will generate neighborhood-level data that will help guide decisionmakers and community leaders toward effective governance, policymaking, and practices. The successful candidate will work closely with the leadership team, affiliated faculty, graduate, and undergraduate researchers, and other iSUPER and university staff to build and maintain relationships with community partners, including community organizations, government officials, agency leaders, and others, with significant time spent working in the communities or at the offices of partners to ensure open communication. A major goal will be supporting deep and integrated collaboration between researchers and stakeholders to integrate ideas proposed by communities and partners into the science and its translation into public-facing innovations and their implementation.
Major responsibilities include (1) stakeholder and partner engagement (e.g., developing partnerships with diverse stakeholders, interfacing with non-academic partners such as external advisory boards and community members; (2) planning stakeholder and community meetings, including annual workshops; (3) understanding and communicating community perspectives on data and research (e.g., integrating feedback of all collaborators and advisory board members to shape sensor deployment maps, the design and content of iSUPER's community-facing data portal, and research priorities in collaboration with the research team); (4) documentation and project coordination (e.g., contributing to monthly project progress reports/presentations, twice-yearly project reviews, and other required project reports, co-mentoring of undergraduate and graduate student researchers for community engagement activities).
This is a full-time position with start date as soon as possible. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis as they are received.
