Job Description:

A postdoctoral research position is currently available in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Florida with Dr. Lisa Merlo. Dr. Merlo serves as the Director of Research for the Florida impaired practitioners monitoring program, as well as the Director of Wellness Programs for the University of Florida College of Medicine.

Research areas include wellbeing, distress, and potentially-impairing conditions (e.g., substance use disorders, psychiatric disorders) among physicians, as well as other healthcare professionals and trainees. The position will involve analysis of data from ongoing studies, including an upcoming survey of wellbeing among health profession students in the State of Florida. It offers opportunities to be involved in the development of new projects. The successful applicant will conduct statistical analyses independently and in collaboration, author peer-reviewed publications, and present findings at scientific conferences.

Opportunities for mentoring medical students and other trainees are available. The postdoc will also be eligible for membership in the UF Center for Addiction Research and Education (https://addictionresearch.health.ufl.edu/) and the UF McKnight Brain Institute (https://mbi.ufl.edu/education-outreach/), which provide opportunities for collaboration, education, and fellowship with other faculty, postdocs, and trainees.

Expected Salary:

$54,840.00

Minimum Requirements:

PhD in Psychology, Epidemiology, Public Health, Health Education, or related field. Experience with data analysis and strong scientific writing skills, as indicated by published manuscripts or preprints.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Research experience in substance use disorders and/or mental health.
  • Expertise in SPSS, SAS, and/or R.
  • Experience with REDCap and/or Qualtrics survey software.
  • Qualitative research interest and/or experience.
