Scope of Job:
To ensure smooth and orderly functioning of the Clinical Education Center by overseeing, providing support and coordinating the day to day operations of the programs for medical students.

Description of Duties:
  • Supervises and manages the day to day activities and personnel of the assigned programs or projects.
  • Develops, implements, supervises and manages standards for attainment of multiple projects and programs.
  • Manages programs to ensure that implementation and prescribed activities are carried out in accordance with stated objectives.
  • Provides administrative decision making, supervision and support to Chair of Education and Academic Affairs and faculty.
  • Develops, cultivates, and maintains working relationships with internal/external departments/agencies and other organizations associated with and/or receiving benefit from the program(s).
  • Responsible for all budgetary and reporting responsibilities of the program(s). .
  • Develops, implements, evaluates and makes recommendation on new policies and procedures for improvement and efficiency of program activities.
  • Coordinates and facilitates meetings with Chair, faculty, and site directors as needed.
  • Responsible for preparing recurring program reports in coordination with finance and administration for management use or as required for project or program.
  • Recruits hospital/clinic administrators, managers and health providers to provide facility development and coordination.
  • Assists with the development of the longitudinal/vertical integration, transitional clinical education and clerkship curriculum.
  • Participates in planning and developing methods for program implementation and administration.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Supervision Received:
General supervision from assigned supervisor.

Supervision Given:
Direct supervision of assigned staff.

Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.

Preferred Education:
Master’s Degree in a related field from an accredited University.

Licenses/Certifications:
None.

Required Experience:
• Three (3) years of experience in the Education or Healthcare field, or
• Five (5) years of the required experience with an Associate Degree or 60 hours of College Credit, or
• Seven (7) years of the required experience with a High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred Experience:
None.

Equipment:
Use of standard office equipment.

Working Conditions:
Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Office Environment; some travel and weekend work is required. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. UTRGV is a distributed institution, which requires presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley.

Demonstrated interpersonal skills. Independent decision making and problem-solving ability. Maintain positive working relationships with faculty, students, peers and learners.
