Position Description:
The Institutional Research Analyst works with the Senior Institutional Research Analyst(s) in gathering and reviewing data, preparing reports and surveys, creating dashboards, analyzing data and statistics related to the core institutional metrics for the leadership, academic support units, state and federal agencies, survey agencies and other stakeholders. This position is responsible for keeping track of surveys and ensuring timely submission of surveys. This position is also responsible for clearly documenting the queries, data definitions, workflows, and processes involved in the submission of internal and external surveys and identifying anomalies and irregularities in the data submissions.

Employee is eligible to work remotely and will come to campus for meetings or collaboration as required. Remote work must be performed from an alternate worksite in New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania or New York. Employees working remotely must still reside in one of these states as their primary residence.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Three (3) years of professional applicable experience
- Excellent communications skills to clearly convey information orally and in writing to audiences with varied and sometimes limited technical knowledge
- Demonstrated data analysis skills using SQL
- Ability to achieve work through others who are not direct reports
- Ability to effectively manage multiple competing priorities
- Attention to detail when creating reports or writing queries
- Experience in Higher Education environment
- Understanding of higher education functional areas and the interrelationships between and among those units
- Knowledge of student information systems, enterprise data warehouse, technical processes, and methodologies, specifically Internet Native Banner and Banner Self Service
- Basic knowledge of building dashboards in Tableau and reports in Cognos.
Surveys, Data, Research
- Work with colleagues across Rowan to gather data and qualitative information to fulfill survey and reporting requirements
- Audit data and work with academic and administrative units to ensure data quality and address data gaps
- Develop, document, and maintain accurate queries and ETL processes for pulling data for the surveys and to identify data errors
- Submit and maintain recurrent institutional reporting, including but not limited to IPEDS, 28 recurring OSHE data sets, Common Data Set, etc.
- Complete, review, and submit external data requests, surveys, and special studies (~100 per year) including IPEDS, NCAA, US News, Princeton Review, ASEE, College Board, Delaware Cost Study, Times Higher Education, etc.
- Create and implement testing protocols for critical reports and surveys
- Clearly documents the queries, workflows, and processes involved in the submission of internal and external surveys and reports
- Identify strategic opportunities to improve Rowan’s position in rankings surveys and versus benchmark schools
- Coordinate and submit responses to college guides such as Colleges of Distinction
- Provide quantitative data and analyses to departments and offices for use in planning and assessment
- Review data from peer institutions for internal indicators and dashboards
- Represent the University within the Institutional Research professional community and pursue professional development opportunities
- Extract data from various data sources including the operational data store (ODS) and Banner using the VEERA ETL tool
- Develop data models required for data centers, descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analyses
- Transform data into rich, meaningful, relevant insights that can be used to make strategic recommendations and decisions
- Develop, implement, and maintain reports, dashboards, and data analytics solutions to help functional offices understand and track activities and metrics
- Work with academic and administrative units to identify and prioritize data collection, ensure data validity and integrity, conduct gap analyses, and create solutions for new information needs
- Develop dashboard solutions for high-level analyses
