Job Description

Teach undergraduate and graduate applied trumpet; teach coursework in areas of specialty as needed, including literature, pedagogy, and chamber music; recruit and retain high caliber trumpet students at both the undergraduate and graduate level; maintain a professional profile that reflects the career of a distinguished teacher/performer; contribute service to the university by serving on graduate student and faculty committees as needed and assisting with brass area activities; support all facets of the Music Performance Division, including chamber and large ensembles, as well as academics; collaborate musically and artistically, within and outside of the Conservatory; actively participate in Conservatory and university events; enrich the cultural environment of the Kansas City metropolitan community.

Minimum Qualifications

Successful candidates will havedemonstrated successful and innovative experience teaching trumpet, preferably in a university setting; significant professional experience at the national level as a performer/scholar; demonstrated ability to attract quality undergraduate and graduate trumpet students; doctoral degree in trumpet performance or equivalent professional experience.

Full Time/Part Time

This is a full time, unranked, non-tenure track, one-year, benefit eligible, nine-month appointment. The appointment starts Fall of 2023.

Salary

Salary is negotiable, competitive, and commensurate with qualifications, experience, and internal equity. UMKC offers an excellent retirement/benefits package.
