Position Description
The Academic Appointments Coordinator will oversee the academic appointment processes for Harvard College, research centers, and non-divisional units within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. Reporting to the Manager of Academic Programs in FAS Faculty Affairs, the successful candidate will be responsible for processing a high volume of faculty and researcher appointment-related transactions including new hires, reappointments, salary changes, leaves, and terminations. The Coordinator provides guidance to administrators on appointment policies and procedures; will ensure compliance with required documentation and policy; and maintain records and filing system. The Coordinator will also research and resolve appointment, payroll, and benefits-related issues; process education loan reimbursements; and complete other projects as needed.
The Coordinator is also responsible for planning and executing events as part of his/her support of the Committee on Australian Studies and initiatives and events of the Office for Faculty Affairs (e.g. faculty orientations, professional development workshops, student dinners, processing related invoices, etc.). The Coordinator will support the administration of endowed professorships and the Committee on Australian Studies by managing correspondence and confidential records. In addition, the Coordinator is responsible for the maintenance of several websites using OpenScholar and SharePoint, and also management of internal listserv and communications. Finally, the Coordinator will undertake ad hoc projects for the FAS Office for Faculty Affairs.
