Position Summary:

The Department of Physics at Rollins College invites applications for a one-year position as Visiting Assistant Professor in Physics beginning August 2023.Preference will be given to applicants with an understanding of liberal arts education that includes a student-centered undergraduate experience. We strongly encourage applications from candidates who are committed to mentoring and educating a broad range of students, particularly those who are traditionally underrepresented in physics and astronomy.

The successful candidate must be able to contribute to a diverse and inclusive learning and working environment at Rollins. A Ph.D. in Physics or a closely related field is required. Undergraduate teaching experience or promise of excellence in teaching is desirable. The teaching load for this position will be four courses each semester. The candidate will demonstrate a commitment to creative teaching of both introductory and advanced undergraduate physics courses, as well as courses for the general education curriculum. A commitment to the liberal arts and excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.

Minimum Qualifications and Education:
  • Ph.D. in Physics or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated commitment to creative teaching of both introductory and advanced undergraduate physics courses, as well as courses for the general education curriculum.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the liberal arts and excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to effectively educate and mentor a diverse student population. Articulates the ability to contribute to and sustain a diverse and inclusive learning and working environment at Rollins.

Preferred
Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate teaching experience.
