Job Summary:

The Temporary* Assistant Director of Editorial Content reports to the director of editorial content and is a key member of Rollins College's Office of Marketing. This hybrid position assists with the development and execution of editorial content strategy, publication management, and content development.

Anticipated Employment Dates: February 6,2023 - May 26,2023
(*This is a 16-week temporary assignment due to operation needs.)

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with the Director of Editorial Content to execute editorial content that engages key audiences and advances the college's mission and goals.
  • Develop brand-level written content across all communication channels.
  • Serve as assistant editor on all admission and advancement publications.
  • Manage day-to-day operations for the College's news website and accompanying newsletter
  • Assist with the management of editorial content projects, including but not limited to print publications, websites, email marketing, and content marketing.
  • Provide editorial support to campus partners where applicable.

Minimum Qualifications & Education:


  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in journalism, English, communications, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of writing and editing experience, with a portfolio of relevant work.
  • Possess broad writing skills and experience, including news writing, feature writing, and copywriting.
  • Previous experience managing the production of print and online publications.
  • Previous experience with content management systems, email marketing, social media platforms, and content marketing tools.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign).
  • Thorough knowledge of AP style.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Highly organized, detail oriented, and accurate.

Anticipated Employment Dates: February 6,2023 - May 26,2023

Schedule: The Temporary Assistant Director of Editorial Content will work approximately 37.5 hours per week, for a total of less than 1,000 hours per year. Scheduled hours per week will depend on operational needs.

Compensation: Rollins offers a competitive hourly rate and there are no benefits associated with this appointment.

Work Environment:
  • This is a hybrid position (three days in the office and two remote).
  • Work requires some visual strain with use of computer.
  • Overtime may be required as needed and hours might change in some circumstances.
