Research Analyst - Real World Health Navigator

About the Opportunity

Northeastern University invites applications for one opening for a full-time (100%) Research Analyst to support the Real World Health Navigator (RWHN) Impact Engine beginning on or about February 1, 2023.

RWHN aims to change how research is translated into clinical practice by establishing a sustainable service that leads the way in fully reproducing health studies (https://impactengines.northeastern.edu/ie/rwhn/).

The analyst will be involved in day-to-day operations to conduct observational and administrative database research (e.g., analysis of existing datasets) on health outcomes for various populations, under the supervision of Roux Institute/Northeastern University faculty. The position offers exceptional opportunity for collaboration across the Roux Institute and OHDSI (Observational Health Data Sciences and Informatics) center on major projects in the U.S. and overseas. This research will directly improve our ability to use real world data to characterize under-represented and marginalized patient populations, construct population-level estimates relating exposures to health outcomes, and to enhance clinical decision-making through improved patient-level predictions.

The ideal candidate will be a self-driven individual who can hit the ground running—a quick learner and wants to be a part of our dynamic team. The Research Analyst will be an integral part of the team supporting day-to-day management of established relationships with our network study partners across the globe. Experience in project management and operational roles is preferred. Day-to-day duties are variable ranging from supporting proposal and grant writing activities (pre-award) to executing research studies within the collaboration network (post-award) with strong mentorship from the RWHN leadership team.

Prior experience working with clinicians and/or clinical researchers and outstanding communication skills is a must. Compensation will be commensurate with experience. Work environment is flexible depending on the candidate's working style. The team are geographically dispersed and work in a hybrid setting.

The analyst will report directly to the RWHN leadership team.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree or more with sufficient experience in medicine, public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, public policy, computer science, or other related field (by the start date)
  • Demonstrated experience working within a healthcare setting
  • Self-motivated and goal-driven individual who can work independently and on a team
  • Exceptional organization and multi-tasking skills
  • Superb oral and written communication skills
  • Prior grant writing experience preferred
  • Interest in real world evidence and the field of observational health research
  • Preference of being within driving distance to a Northeastern University campus in Maine (Portland) or Massachusetts (Boston or Burlington) to attend quarterly operations meetings, as needed.
