  • This position is responsible for partnering with the Office of the Provost in developing and delivering an integrated learning and educational experience for Georgian Court students. The Dean of Students reports to the Associate Provost for Student Support and Services. The Dean of Students provides leadership and vision in administering a comprehensive range of programs and services which promote optimal growth and development of students. Also, assists with crisis response and institutional initiatives; advocates on behalf of students; and fosters collaborative relationships among students, faculty, staff, and administrators.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Works closely with the Associate Provost for Student Support & Services to provide an engaging student experience.
  • Works closely with the Provost and Deans to establish and leverage relationships with faculty.
  • Member of the Dean’s Council.
  • Assures that the Division of Student Affairs is in alignment with the University’s strategic plan.
  • Monitors and evaluates programmatic and operational effectiveness, and effects changes required for improvement.
  • Monitors and spends within departmental budgets.
  • Plans and implements Student Orientations and other onboarding events.
  • Supervises direct reports within the Student Affairs division (Residence Life; Student Life; and others as assigned).
  • Represents the needs of student affairs across campus and to the University.
  • Administers the student code of conduct process as the Chief Judicial Officer.
  • Informs the Provost and other key administrators with policy guidance, as appropriate.
  • Serves as the chair for the Student Concerns Committee.
  • Develops and reviews student policies and procedures to ensure alignment with institutional policies. Keeps student handbook up to date.
  • Serves as Deputy Title IX Coordinator, working with Human Resources to adjudicate Title IX cases involving students.
  • Works with the director of residence life and staff to improve residence life programs and quality of campus life.
  • Ensures the quality of key student leadership programs (Emerging Leaders; Women in Leadership Development; Student Government Association)
  • Serves on university wide committees and taskforces as requested.
  • Participates in and represent the University as the chief student affairs officer at the Association of Independent Colleges & Universities of New Jersey (AICUNJ).
  • Integrates the core values of respect, integrity, compassion, justice and service in all aspects of interaction.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Master’s degree required.
  • Minimum of seven years of broad-based experience in higher education front-line and leadership positions.
  • Progressive leadership experience in higher education, and a strong record of accomplishment in fostering student engagement and success.
  • Deep understanding of student needs and interests.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development and engagement with the latest research and best practices in student affairs.
  • Must exercise a high degree of integrity, discretion, and independent judgment.
  • Must have a thorough and comprehensive understanding of judicial affairs; Title IX regulations and mandate; and attunement to institutional liability that manages both risk and enhances the student experience.
  • Must be well organized and able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, orally and in writing to multiple stakeholders – i.e. students, faculty, staff, administrators, families etc.
  • Must possess strong managerial and leadership competencies.
