Job Summary/Basic Function:

Wheaton College, an NCAA Division III institution located in Norton, Massachusetts, is looking for a motivated, energetic, passionate, and caring individual to assist our Atheltic Training Program. The Assistant Athletic Trainer, under the direction of the Head Athletic Trainer, is responsible for providing assistance to the Athletic Training Staff in all aspects of the intercollegiate athletic training program.

This position would contribute to the care and safety of the varsity student-athletes of the 23 sports in our program. The primary responsibilities will be to assist with the coverage of games and practices, increase the number of office hours for the evaluation and treatment of student-athletes and ensure we are compliant with all rules, regulations, and best practices associated with the NCAA, Board of Certification ( BOC ) Standards and the National Athletic Training Association ( NATA ).

Additional responsibilities will include but are not limited to assisting with the supervision of work-study students, teaching and maintaining current CPR, AED, and First Aid for all coaches as mandated by the NCAA, assisting with maintaining student-athlete medical records, and filing NCAA hardship waivers. It is expected that this individual will complete their job while complying with all NCAA Division III, NEWMAC, and Wheaton College rules and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree.
Certification as an Athletic Trainer by the BOC, in good standing.
Licensed Athletic Trainer in the state of Massachusetts.
American Red Cross CPR / AED for Professional Resuer Certified.
Valid Driver’s Licence.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s Degree.
1-3 years of hands-on experience.

The salary for this position will be commensurate with the qualifications, education and experience.

Physical Demands

The candidate must be able to work independently and have the ability to work evenings and weekends from mid-August through the end of spring championships in May to accomplish the tasks necessary for success in this field.

The candidate must also hold all the required medical credentials, a current and valid driver’s license and maintain Wheaton’s College Van License A.
