Job Description

Syracuse University Counseling and Human Services Department seeks a counselor educator to fill a full-time Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor position to begin August 21, 2023 and continue through Commencement in May, 2024 (although there are possibilities for summer teaching).

Qualifications
  • A doctorate in counselor education from a CACREP -accredited university.
  • Experience as a practicum/internship supervisor is required.
Job Specific Qualifications
  • We are seeking applicants committed to equity and with a track record of high-impact, experiential andragogy who can teach in several of the following content areas: human development, counseling children and adolescents, counselor in the schools, career development, group work, social justice and multicultural counseling, research methods, and crisis counseling.
  • Salary will be commensurate with professional experience.
  • Applicants must provide evidence of qualifications in teaching and supervision.
  • Eligibility for New York State certification as a school counselor and/or licensure as a mental health counselor is preferred.
Responsibilities
  • Responsibilities of the position include teaching a variety of courses in our master’s programs (School Counseling and Clinical Mental Health Counseling), academic advising, and assisting in Department service activities, including but not limited to continuous and systematic program assessment, related data collection, and maintaining compliance with CACREP accreditation standards.
