Carlow University invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the Rank of Assistant Professor in the Graduate Psychology Programs within the Department of Psychology, Counseling, and Criminology. This is a nine-month, full-time, tenure track academic appointment to begin in the Fall 2023. Applicants with expertise in research methods, statistics, and either cognitive, biological, or social psychology are especially encouraged to apply. Additionally, this position will require the supervision and development of students’ independent research/dissertation projects across graduate and undergraduates in the department.

 

Responsibilities include teaching research and statistics courses in our PsyD in Counseling Psychology program as well as our Master of Arts in Psychology (MAP) and undergraduate Psychology programs. Additional responsibilities will include academic advising and collaboration with faculty and students to develop/advance a scholarship agenda. Carlow prizes excellence in teaching, but also values scholarly pursuits, including interdisciplinary collaboration, as well as active service to the college, university, and community.

 

Successful candidates must be committed to envisioning the future of liberal arts education in a rapidly changing environment; have experience working with diverse populations; have a demonstrated ability to engage students in issues of race and equity; and be able to articulate how they will contribute to Carlow University’s Catholic, Mercy mission and values through their teaching, scholarship, and service.

  

Qualifications 

  • PhD or PsyD in Psychology
  • A strong background in research methods and statistics.
  • Experience teaching at the college/university level. 
  • Comfort in teaching both on ground and asynchronous online classes.
  • Technological proficiency in a digital learning environment. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. 
  • Interest the supervision and development of students’ independent research/dissertation projects.
  • Career goals that include program level leadership in the college environment

 

The Counseling Psychology Program at Carlow University uses a framework characterized by attention to issues of social justice and feminism. This framework calls for students and faculty to actively recognize and seek to understand the impact of factors such as gender, sexual orientation, physical ability, religious belief, socio-economic status, ethnicity, and culture on both their own lived experience and psychological functioning as well as that of their clients.
