Description

Data is being created and collected at an unprecedented volume. Chances are your organization is sitting on troves of data but unsure how to use it. Converting data into real value takes the right skills and savvy leadership to drive a culture of data-driven decision making. Carnegie Mellon University's Chief Data Officer Certificate Program (CDataO) provides current and future CDataOs with the critical strategic insight, management techniques, and analytical capabilities you need to set up a 21st century data management program. In the program, participants will learn the skills they need to be a successful CDataO through targeted interdisciplinary coursework and hands-on practical application, led by world-renowned faculty from Carnegie Mellon University’s Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy and industry experts.

As part of this certificate program participants work in teams, with the support of a Team Executive Coach, to develop or enhance a strategic enterprise data management roadmap for an organization. This plan is designed for participants to apply several of the methods, tools, and techniques taught during the modules of the program.

The CDataO Program Team Coach plays an important role in support of program participants over the six-month program. As a Team Coach for the Spring 2023 cohort, you will:
  • Serve as an expert resource to provide high-level guidance, calibration, and feedback to a participant team as they work on required program deliverables.
  • Participate on monthly calls with your team to ensure the projects are moving forward and able to meet the established deadlines.
  • Review team deliverables and provide helpful suggestions based upon the coach’s knowledge and experience in enterprise data management.
  • Provide feedback to CDataO Program leadership on team progress and/or issues that need addressed.
Core Requirements:

  1. CDataO Program Team Coaches are requested to attend the program mid-session (April 12-13, 2023) and requested to attend the program practicum (June 26-27, 2023) sessions.
  2. CDataO Program Team Coaches are required, at a minimum, to conduct monthly calls with their teams to ensure they are on-track with program timeframes and working collaboratively.
  3. CDataO Program Team Coaches are required to be responsive to ad hoc calls, text messages, and emails either individually or through the team project leader. This support is critical for participant success and program satisfaction.
Qualifications
  1. At least 7-10 years of work experience in an enterprise data management/technology leadership position, and/or an advanced degree in an aligned field of study.
  2. Microsoft Office suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  3. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
