MOREnet - Missouri Research and Education Network (MOREnet) is a member-driven consortium, operating as a separate business unit within the University of Missouri System. They are primarily made up of Missouri's K-12 schools, colleges and universities, public libraries and government organizations. In addition to maintaining a computer network for Internet access to school districts and libraries, they also provide technology consulting, a technology help desk as well as professional development and training, consortium discounts and a la carte services by a team of approximately 80 subject matter experts.

Job Description

Windows Server Admin Position Job Description

This position will focus on administration and management of MOREnet's Windows servers, ESX environment and storage in Kansas City and Columbia Data Centers. This position will also provide consultation and onsite services with members on servers, storage/backup needs, application support, and other services offered to MOREnet members.

Windows Server Administration
  • Install, monitor, secure, and update/patch Windows servers, storage systems, and VMware Services.
  • Manage and maintain Active Directory, Group policies, and DNS (Domain Name Services).
  • Setup, install, troubleshoot, and repair server hardware.
  • Maintain host-based firewalls that protect MOREnet servers.
  • Troubleshoot software and operating system problems.
  • Automate processes using VBScript, PowerShell, batch files and other available tools.
  • Manage and support virtual servers in a VMware environment.
  • Create and maintain documentation for services supported by the group.
  • Review existing services and make recommendations for improvements.
Salary

$48,900 - $78,525 Commensurate with experience

Shift

M-F, 8am to 5pm. Evenings, nights, and weekends when required or on pager duty schedule.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent with at least 2-3 years of proven experience as a windows server administrator in a multiple server environment.
  • Experience with network protocols TCP/IP, IP addressing and network address translation.
  • Experience using windows server network troubleshooting tools
  • Knowledge and use of Windows Server command line tools and utilities.
  • Hands on approach to troubleshooting software and hardware problems
  • Ability to work in a team environment or independently.
  • Capable of learning new technologies and services.
Preferred Qualifications

• Associates or bachelor’s degree in a computer science, information technology or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge can be acquired.

• 3–4 years’ experience supporting and administering windows server operating systems in a clustered ESX VMware environment.

• Active directory and Group policy experience.

• Experience with DNS, TCP/IP, UDP in LAN/WAN environments.

• Use of script development tools such as PowerShell, batch, and other available utilities to automate server processes.

• Knowledge of industry security best practices.

• Hands-on approach to problem solving.

Other Information
  • MOREnet offers remote work capability for this position when circumstances permit.
  • Will need to have a valid driver’s license and transportation.
  • Travel to MOREnet data centers located in Columbia and Kansas City Missouri and to member sites when required.
  • The person hired for the position may be required to be present in the office to resolve issues, support members, or provide other support associated with the position.
  • Afterhours pager for member support
  • Must be able to lift 40lbs.
