Job Description

The College of Arts and Science (A&S) at the University of Missouri is hiring an Assistant Director of Advising. The Assistant Director of Advising in A&S will positively impact student and advisor success by playing a key role in the overall leadership and coordination of the College’s decentralized advising model. This new position will work closely with a team of outstanding academic advisors across the College and serve in a leadership role that will contribute to A&S’s growing student success infrastructure.

This position will work closely with the Director of Advising, Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies, A&S student support services, and academic advisors across the College’s schools and departments in the overall implementation of advising services and student success in A&S. We are looking for an advising professional who has demonstrated experience in coordinating or managing an administrative function within advising or student services, who is invested in student retention, and is motivated to take on a leadership role within a decentralized, mixed model for academic advising in the largest academic unit at the University of Missouri.

Specific responsibilities include:
  • Retention - including leading advising efforts for early alert and probation/dismissal processes
  • Supervision over 6-8 academic advisors; supporting onboarding and training for academic advisors
  • Advising – dedicated caseload based on the candidate and supporting students in transition
  • Special projects within student success as needed, particularly based on the candidate’s experience, interests, and skills
Salary

Salary Range: $55,000.00-$68,815.00
GGS Grade: 010

Shift

Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm. Evenings and Weekends work may sometimes be required.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 4 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree + five years’ experience of advising and minimum two years of additional administrative responsibilities within an advising office
