Description
As an Assistant Teaching Professor, a full-time faculty member of Teacher Education, the successful candidate will teach online and on-campus courses for both undergraduate and graduate students. The courses will target secondary curriculum concepts, cross curricular literacy strategies, and instructional pedagogy, including the role of technology integration. The faculty member will be involved in course and curriculum development. They will work effectively with diverse populations of students and colleagues. The faculty will engage with members of the community, and they may serve on dissertation committees. The faculty must be available for on-campus instruction, advising, and professional service. This position starts effective the first day of fall semester 2023.
Minimum Qualifications
- Earned doctorate or evidence that a doctorate will be conferred by the date of employment in curriculum and instruction, secondary education, or a closely related field.
- Relevant and successful teaching experience in secondary schools with the ability for relating these experiences to instruction for Middle and Secondary Teacher Education majors.
- Has held a valid secondary teaching license.
- Resumé includes qualifications that will facilitate graduate faculty status within the department and university.
- Ability to effectively teach and conduct academic duties in both online and on-campus environments.
- Knowledge and experience in working with diverse student populations.
Authorization to work in the US
Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Earned doctorate in curriculum and instruction, secondary education, or a closely related field.
- Experience in teaching through both on-campus and online learning course delivery methods.
- Experience in chairing or serving on graduate committees.
- Experience with community engagement and/or service-based learning.
- Experience in working with teacher education platforms for certification or licensing (i.e., EdTPA, TK20, etc.).
- Evidence of scholarly activities (i.e., publications, research, and grants) related to the field of teacher education, involving curriculum, pedagogy, discipline-specific literacy, and technology integration.
- Experience working with multicultural, international, and diverse student populations.
