Job Description:

The Department of Alumni Engagement at the State University of New York at Oneonta invites applications for the position of Coordinator of Recent Alumni and Student Programs . Expectations include, but are not limited to, planning and executing opportunities for recent graduates to connect with each other, SUNY Oneonta, and current students.

The Office of Alumni Engagement works collaboratively with the SUNY Oneonta Alumni Association to connect, engage, support, and celebrate graduates of SUNY Oneonta. Our vision is to build a premier Alumni Association that sustains lifelong relationships with alumni, students, faculty, staff, and friends that support the success of SUNY Oneonta. Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Utilizing social media strategies to inform and engage alumni.
  • Executing various campus traditions (e.g., Pass Through the Pillars events, Founders' Week, Senior Class Countdown Events, and the 9/11 Ceremony).
  • Recruiting alumni to participate in Admissions programs.
  • Managing the online Alumni Book Club.
  • Organizing events for recent graduates on and off campus, such as Recent Alumni Dialogues.
  • In addition, the person in this position will be responsible for implementing an alumni-student mentoring program.
  • The person in this position also serves as the primary advisor for the Senior Class by encouraging a sense of philanthropy, building class pride, and pride in their alma mater.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Excellent written communication and presentation skills as evidenced in your application materials
  • Experience in event planning and implementation
  • Ability to travel that includes a valid driver's license
  • Ability to work evening and weekend hours
Preferred:
  • At least one year of experience working in higher education
  • Experience working as part of a team and in a service-oriented environment
  • Experience working with volunteers
  • Experience working with students
  • Experience using social media networks
  • Ability to handle a variety of tasks concurrently with a broad range of stakeholders
  • Experience working with and serving diverse populations
