Job Description:

Join our mission-driven finance team! Champlain College is seeking an Accountant to join our Finance team. The Accountant is responsible for the preparation of internal monthly financial information, the preparation of final financial statements, and will serve as the key contact for audit coordination. The successful candidate will prepare presentation documentation for Management. Additionally, the Accountant is responsible to help with the College's finance policies, accounting practices, and the maintenance of its fiscal records as well as the preparation of financial reports.
Responsibilities include:
  • Manage institutional audits and tax returns. Including preparation of supporting documents.
  • Complete and analyze monthly financial statements and reconciliations.
  • Prepare support for the endowments and net assets of the College.
  • Lead and assist in resolving issues and questions related to policies.



Requirements:

  • The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3-5 years of public accounting and audit experience.
  • Previous experience working with large nonprofit organizations, either as an auditor or on staff is preferred.
  • The successful candidate will also have a thorough knowledge of GAAP and experience with non-profit taxes.
