The Department of Teaching, Learning and Culture at Texas A&M University invites applications
for a Tenure Track Associate/Full Professor to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Social
Studies and Teacher Education. We seek a vibrant and inventive colleague to join our dynamic
faculty and become a thought leader in the scholarship of teaching and learning in technology
enhanced learning environments applied across the scholarly areas of teaching and research
within the department.

We welcome applications from scholars using innovative, critical and/or interdisciplinary
conceptual and/or methodological lenses in their research and who research speaks to emerging
issues in social studies education that help move the field forward in generative directions.
Candidates with expertise in fully implementing the National Council for the Social Studies
(NCSS) standards for students, educators, education leaders and to lead boldly in bringing
“powerful and purposeful pedagogy in the social studies” to the forefront of teacher education are
highly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities: Major responsibilities include: conduct an active program of research and build a scholarly research agenda in social studies education; design and teach undergraduate/graduate course in social studies and the teacher education program; coordination of the social studies teacher education program; advise M,Ed, MS and PhD students. Typically, teaching responsibilities include 6-semester hours (2 courses per semester). In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to pursue and secure external funding; contribute to national and international scholarship; be involved with local, state, and national activities that support the practice of social studies education; and participation in service to the Program, Department, School, and University.
