Position Summary:
The Assistant Director is responsible for the administration of the University of Idaho Health Insurance Requirement as a condition of enrollment for all degree seeking students, which includes operations of the Student Insurance Office.

Duties may include:
  • Overseeing the processes for gathering health insurance information from all students subject to the health insurance requirement
  • Managing the exchange of information for verification of compliance through the contracted third party auditing firm
  • Conducting compliance reviews and investigates alleged compliance violations
  • Enforcing non-compliance penalties
  • Communicating, managing resources and processes related to the Student Health Insurance Program (SHIP) as an option for students to meet the U of I Health Insurance Requirement
  • Managing electronic processes, enrollment, fee assessment and eligibility file transmissions with third party claims administrator
  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Five years experience in policy compliance monitoring and enforcement
  • Experience interpreting and applying rules and regulations
  • Experience developing, translating and delivering complex technical concepts into clear language and delivering to small and large audiences
  • Experience with computer software applications, word processing, spreadsheet and email software, internet search and data organization
  • Independently problem solve and prioritize assignments to complete work in a timely manner


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree OR combination of education and experience equivalent to a minimum of five years progressively responsible program management experience; and five to eight years’ experience in related field such as college health, health care management, claims administration or health insurance
  • Experience working in policy management and compliance enforcement
  • Experience planning, developing, and implementing major public information projects and marketing plans
