Job Summary

The Coordinator of Testing Services is responsible for the day-to-day management of the test center, which provides efficient, reliable, and timely test administrations to current and prospective students of Georgia Southern, and other students and professionals in the community and region. The Coordinator ensures that the center adheres to the Professional Standards and Guidelines for Post-Secondary Test Centers, as adopted by the National College Testing Association (NCTA). This position delivers testing opportunities to all Georgia Southern University locations, off-site and on-site; and develops all related testing policies and procedures.

Coordinate the development, implementation, and administration of a comprehensive testing program for the University. The coordinator informs students, proctors, Test Center personnel, and other stakeholders regarding software, hardware, and testing procedures, coordinates the test scheduling process and test materials, provides and assists with training and dissemination of information, coordinates efforts to improve and refine usage of the Testing Centers. This position reports to the Director of the Academic Success Center.

  • Ensure the hiring and employment of personnel.
  • Supervise the selection, training, coaching, counsel, and evaluation of the staff (testing specialist, graduate assistants, and student assistants).
  • Provide personnel training and work direction for assigned staff.
  • Ensure that staff and operations adhere to the NCTA standards.
  • Actively manage the overall testing program and procedures.
  • Develop office policies and procedures.
  • Continuously evaluate the overall testing program, processes, and staff.
  • Develop and implement improvement processes and procedures.
  • Serve as administrator of record with test companies.
  • Review and negotiates testing contracts and agreements.
  • Consult with the Legal Affairs Office on testing contracts and agreements.
  • Uphold procedures to ensure exams are proctored according to required policies.
  • Oversee the administration of all exams offered.
  • Coordinate various aspects of the Testing Center, including maintaining the website, test registration and availability, scheduling of exams, maintaining a budget, developing the testing schedule to meet the needs of all exams required, coordinate with other areas on campus to ensure exams are being offered to the campus.
  • Coordinate and prepare testing sessions and schedules staff coverage; communicate and publicize testing schedules; coordinators special testing facilities; answer telephones and emails, schedule test appointments, greet testers; provide informational materials and respond to questions concerning testing issues; operate a variety of office and computer equipment; use current computer software in the performance of duties; order and receive test materials/office supplies for the testing office.
  • Utilize knowledge and understanding of admissions standards to ensure full compliance with University and external policies, as well as in recommending and implementing measures to improve student academic success.
  • Ensure the test security of all exams and monitor the testing rooms at all times.
  • Research and assess the testing needs of the region and the implementation of new testing software/exams to offer that will benefit the campus community and the regional area.
  • Compile and distribute testing data and results to the appropriate offices.
  • Collaborate with Admissions pertaining to dual-enrollment admissions and non-traditional testing along with regular admissions.
  • Collaborate with coordinator on Statesboro or Savannah to develop standard practices and policies (when possible) and reports.
  • Update and process all testing fees through TouchNet and process all financial transactions.
  • Monitor finances and maintains appropriate records (financial, test tracking).
  • Monitor the testing budget and forecasts budget needs.
  • Troubleshoot all technical issues with computer testing.
  • Install and update testing software.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
  • Masters degree

Required Experience
  • Three (3) or more years of related work experience
  • Experience with computer networks and integrated applications.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Experience
  • Experience with assessment instruments at the college level.
  • Knowledge and experience in FERPA, student development theory, and admissions/records.
  • Familiarity with student information systems, preferably BANNER.

Proposed Salary

$49,400 - $52,500

This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
