Job Description:

Farmingdale State College (FSC), a nationally ranked college on a trajectory of growth and improvement, has begun the search for its next Assistant Provost. The College is seeking a collaborative and transparent leader to join a dynamic and responsive Office of Academic Affairs that is focused on Farmingdale State College continuing to be an engine of socioeconomic mobility. The new Assistant Provost will join what many describe as the Farmingdale family, where students are the priority and creative ideas come to fruition.

The Position: The Assistant Provost reports directly to the Provost and is responsible for the management and monitoring of the institution's faculty mentoring program, General Education Program, and community/civic engagement initiatives in support of its Carnegie Classification. The Assistant Provost leads and manages the following academic offices: Distance Learning, Nexus Center for Career Development and Applied Learning, Office of International Education and Programming, and The Faculty Center. In consultation with the Provost, the Assistant Provost recommends and monitors all budget allocations associated with the reporting academic offices. As a key member of the Deans' Council, the Assistant Provost will play a critical role in advancing the campus's overall strategic plan goals and carry out other powers, duties, and responsibilities as may be assigned by the President and the Provost.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will have experience in managing a diverse portfolio of academic units and a demonstrated track record of developing and/or actively participating in the development of academic policy and programs. The ideal candidate will be a highly collaborative, communicative, and innovative leader committed to fostering a culture of transparency and trust within the division and across campus. As a member of the academic leadership team, working closely with the Provost and Associate Provost to advance the academic mission of the institution, the incoming Assistant Provost will have a high level of accountability and integrity. The ideal candidate will possess the proven ability to provide program leadership and development. They will have a commitment to shared governance and strong interpersonal, management and conflict resolution skills. A minimum of five years of administrative experience in the role of academic dean, associate dean, assistant dean, department chair or a position that offered similar leadership opportunity and professional growth, is required. A terminal degree from a regionally accredited institution in one of the disciplines of the College or a related discipline, a record of scholarly achievement and professional eligibility for tenure at the full professor level is required
