Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) at Oregon State University enthusiastically invites applications for a full-time, 12-month Coordinator of LGBTQ+ Student Mental Health & Wellness. The creation of this position is a part of CAPS’ ongoing commitment to centering the needs of marginalized students in our community. The primary purpose of this position is to support the success, mental health, and holistic well-being of LGBTQ+ students at OSU through the provision of clinical services, consultation, outreach, programming, and advocacy. This work must be informed by a thorough and nuanced understanding of the unique lived experiences of LGBTQ+ students, particularly in white-dominated, cis-heteronormative institutional spaces.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Masters of Social Work, Masters of Counseling, Masters of Marriage and Family Therapy or Doctorate in Psychology from accredited programs in counseling or clinical psychology.   Eligible for licensure as an LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or Licensed Psychologist in the state of Oregon within 2 years of employment.  One year of experience providing mental health services to LGBTQ+ clients from multiple cultures, races and ethnicities. Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge of the mental health impact on LGBTQ+ people living in a world dominated by cis heteronormative white supremacy.  Demonstrated leadership ability in advancing diversity, equity, social justice, and inclusion in professional or community settings. Experience providing outreach programming focused on the holistic mental health needs of LGBTQ+ people. Experience providing brief therapeutic interventions. Experience balancing multiple, simultaneous demands in a fast-paced clinical setting. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders regarding clients’ mental health needs.  Demonstrated ability to provide crisis assessment and support services for high-risk clients. This could include self-harming behavior(s), suicide prevention, and homicide prevention.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently licensed as an LPC,  LCSW, LMFT, or Licensed Psychologist. Two years of post-graduate professional counseling experience. More than one year of experience providing mental health services and connecting LGBTQ+ clients to resources.  Experience consulting/liaising with campus and/or community partners serving LGBTQ+ populations.  Experience providing mental health services in a higher education setting/in a college counseling center.  Experience providing group therapy. Experience contributing to a multidisciplinary clinical team. Experience advising, consulting, and/or mentoring LGBTQ+ youth or community organizations.
