Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Student Development, Student Affairs, Leadership Studies, Higher Education, or a related field
  • Minimum of three years full-time experience working in student leadership development in higher education or a related context; two years of relevant Graduate Assistantship work may count as one year of full-time experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in student program development and delivery including training and facilitation skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to community engagement, diversity and inclusion, and social justice is a must.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in working with college students, colleagues, and community constituents as educator, advisor, and leader
License/Certification Required

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities Include:
  • Overseeing 1) the Trailhead Experience, a leadership/service extended orientation program for incoming first-year and transfer students and 2) the Alternative Service Experience program, an alternative break program with the primary responsibility of providing opportunities for students to develop as leaders and engaged community members over breaks from school
  • Creating programmatic goals and implementing the processes, structures, and tasks needed to attain them
  • Coordinating logistics (i.e. reservations, transportation) and financial administration (i.e. budgeting, purchases, revenue generation) needed to turn plans into programs
  • Managing the promotion of programs and registration of student participants
  • Evaluating and assessing students’ learning and programmatic effectiveness through formal and informal methods
  • Hiring, coaching, and supervising 1 Graduate Assistant and graduate/undergraduate interns as needed
  • Recruiting, training, and developing leadership teams (40-60 student guides and 2 Student Directors responsible for facilitating student learning at the Trailhead Experience and 20 ASE Peer Leaders and 5-6 Executive Board members)
  • Providing developmental feedback and performance evaluation for staff and student leadership teams
  • Teaching as an adjunct instructor within the HPC department of the College of Education for Leadership Studies courses as needed
  • Serving as the department representative on university committees as needed
  • Maintaining a current understanding of best practices in the field of leadership, community engagement, and student development and engaging in continuous professional development
  • Fulfillment of other duties assigned by the Associate Director and Director
Suggested Salary Range
$50,000-$52,500
