POSITION PURPOSE: Information Technology Services (ITS) is CSU Bakersfield's central IT organization, providing computing, infrastructure, telecommunications and support for the teaching, learning, research, business, and outreach activities of the University.

Under direct to general supervision of the Web Services Manager, the Analyst/Programmer provides consulting/design and technical assistance to faculty and staff in the areas of web site and web application development. The incumbent will provide interface development and support for various systems as well as participate as a member of a team that supports services such as Web Content Management System, PCI-Compliant web applications, and other campus applications.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Web Development/Application Design
  • Responsible for Web Full Stack Development for all web applications.
  • Maintain current JS framework and troubleshoot any issues prior to moving to new WCMS and web templating system.
  • Consolidate websites built with various technologies and unify them using a WCMS.
  • Participate in an agile team of professionals to develop and maintain complex web applications.
  • Rapidly deliver designs, visual concepts, landing pages and templates within our content management systems.
  • Stay current of new/emerging technologies, platforms, tools, and API's.

  • System Administration
  • Review updates and consult on critical upgrades.
  • Deploy tags and/or branches in various environments (Dev, Stage & Production).
  • Monitor and install patches in hosted solution.

  • Mobile App
  • Responsible in UI/UX design and implementation for CSUB Mobile App.
  • Develop mobile content using CSS, JavaScript, XML and JSON.

  • REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE –

    Foundation Level – Bachelor's degree in a related field with relevant training. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

    Career level – Bachelor's degree in a related field and a minimum of two (2) years (within 3 years) of full-time equivalent experience.

    SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES (SKA's) –
    • Regular and reliable attendance is required.
    • Experience and knowledge in one or more industry-standard programming languages such as C++, JavaScript, PERL, PHP, and advanced CSS and HTML.
    • Working knowledge of database technologies such as MySQL, Microsoft SQL, Oracle and/or others.
    • Basic to intermediate knowledge of Adobe Photoshop.
    • Familiar with working on a docroot in Acquia or related Drupal environment.
    • Understanding of and working knowledge of version control software and online repository (such as Git, BitBucket, etc.)
    • Knowledge and experience with software development life cycle and structured system development concepts.
    • Knowledge in integrating applications using application-programming interfaces.
    • Knowledge of VueJS or other JavaScript Framework
    • Knowledge of PHP, XML, XSLT 3.0 and HTML5
    • Knowledge of Omni CMS, running migration scripts and in-depth experience migrating content between content management systems.
    • Knowledge of CMS for decentralized content, designing templates, reusable assets, HTML snippets, assigning user groups, and supporting & managing sub-sites.
    • Possesses strong attention to detail.
    • Ability to use applications software, data structures and utilities, operating systems, and communication interfaces within the computing environment.
    • Ability to work well on collaborative projects - strong sense of community with a willingness to share, teach others and document work.
    • Ability to perform business analysis after reviewing client's requirements to propose a set of solutions.

    • Must be willing to travel and attend training programs off-site for occasional professional development.
    • Must be able to work overtime (foundation level), occasional holidays, and adjust working hours to meet special jobs. May be called back periodically to perform work as needed on an emergency basis.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Bachelor's degree in computer science or computer information systems.
    • Experience with migration of Cascade Server sites to Drupal and/or new open-source CMS platforms (Wagtail, Django CMS).
    • Thorough understanding of HTML5, formats/scripts, layout coding, typography, color and palette issues, file compression technology; responsive web design.
    • Experience with Audio/Video integration usage, graphic designing tools.
    • Knowledge of ADA (American Disability Act) compliancy rules as related to web development
    • Demonstrated skills in an institutional/educational environment.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS: SEDENTARY WORK – involves mainly sitting; minimal walking and standing; lifting light weight objects limited to 15 pounds.
