Overview:

The Salem State University Information Technology Services (ITS) department is responsible for the academic and administrative systems necessary to achieve the strategic and operational goals of the university. ITS is a department of 32 employees and has an annual non-compensation budget of $5M. With the exception of the CIO, all ITS employees are members of bargaining units. ITS deploys and supports enterprise applications including Oracle PeopleSoft Student and Finance, Canvas learning management system (LMS), OnBase digitization, TargetX customer relationship management (CRM), Point N’ Click health and counseling system and a host of other academic and administrative systems. Salem State has an onsite data center built in 2010 but is focused on migration to cloud services when it makes sense operationally and financially. The department has an in-house helpdesk and supports a fleet of over 3000 endpoint devices. The department also includes Network Services, Telecommunications, Media Services (classroom technology), transition services as well as database management, business intelligence and analytics support.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree
  2. Professional experience (10+ years) managing the implementation and maintenance of large-scale technology systems, including senior level IT administrative management experience
  3. Considerable knowledge of current technology applications

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Master’s degree
  2. Demonstrated ability to create and implement a vision for meeting technology needs in a complex organization with significant demands on its IT resources
  3. Demonstrated ability to support, motivate and lead staff, most of whom work remotely

Office activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and interaction with computer equipment.

Potential for Permanent Hybrid/Remote Work: ITS is part of a project to move some administrative functions to a permanent remote/hybrid work model, including this position. Currently, plans and policies are being developed, including the identification and provision of shared, reservable space for the occasional on-campus work that members of department, including this position, may need to do. Applicants should be aware the position will be expected to be a hybrid model of both remote and in-the-office, as needed. The university reserves the right to set the conditions and location of the employment, including changing to a more traditional in-house work model if that is necessary to effectively meet the mission of the university and responsibilities of this position.
